Montessori Effective Language and Literacy Course
About Course
Dr. Maria Montessori observed that a child in the first six years of life has a mind that functions differently from that of an adult. This mind absorbs vast amount of information including language from the environment without any effort on the part of the child; and she called this mind the ‘Absorbent Mind’.
The Absorbent Mind works together with what Montessori identified as Sensitive Period. Maria Montessori described the sensitive period as certain periods of time which appears to be the most favorable ones for creating and refining a particular human characteristic such as Language. A child’s ability to read and write the English language is a very essential skill for every child. Knowing how to read and write makes it possible for the child to do very well in other subjects because the child will be able to read, understand what he reads, and can express this understanding in both writing and speaking.
The Montessori Effective Language and Literacy Course offer teachers great and exciting ideas of activities that can effectively assist children learn how to read and write. The materials used in the presentation of the activities mostly consist of simple and easily available items found around the house. The presentations involve simple steps and guidelines that can easily be understood by the teacher who in turn, will present the exercises with great fun to the children even as they are conquering literacy skills!
